Brussels , 29 Sept. 2008
As of 1st September, the Dutch health and fitness association, Fit!vak has become a member of the European Health and Fitness Association through a Headquarters Membership Agreement.
Fit!vak is the 15th European National Association to take this step.
Harm Tegelaars , President of EHFA, welcomed Fit!vak’s decision and said: “EHFA is seeking to have all national associations in Europe to join EHFA in order to represent their respective national health and fitness sector at European level. This will give Dutch member- operators a common platform around which they can voice their concerns and positions, thus improving EHFA’s ability to adequately represent their interests on the European stage.”
Ronald Wouters , Director of Fit!vak commented; “We believe that more and more our national sector is influenced by what is happening on the European level. Whilst we have our national activities, it is equally important to be present at a higher level in Brussels and we believe EHFA is the right platform. The Netherlands is the 6th largest fitness market in Europe and we must be represented in the European Associations network that is EHFA. By sharing best practices with our fellow associations we can only get stronger.”
Fit!vak is the Dutch national association of fitness clubs and was founded on October 12th and is an association for and by the members. The members determine collectively the strategy. Fit!vak has a board and an executive office, managed by an executive director. The office is based in Oosterbeek
Currently membership stands at 730 facilities.
